Namibia strives to be a knowledge-based economy by 2030. But as there are substantial regional differences in educational attainment, a young person’s regional origin seems to affect future opportunities to obtain employment or to move out of subsistence oriented livelihoods. Some regions are more adversely impacted by the effects of climate change and disruption to the school programme as a result of flood is not uncommon in many regions. As educational attainment affects the general level of skills and knowledge in communities, the adaptive capacities to climate change of Namibian youth are immediately affected in the longer term in various parts of the country unless integrated approaches are taken to address these challenges.
